A man driving through the countryside found himself outside a monastery at sundown and decided to spend the night there. The monks were very hospitable. They gave him supper & provided him with a comfortable bed.
He woke up with a start towards midnight. Something had awakened him. As he was wondering what it was, he heard a low eerie sound that sent a shudder up his spine. It stopped after some time. The next morning, he asked the monks what the sound was, but they looked at each other and shook their heads. " We can't tell you" they said. " YOU ARE NOT A MONK"
The man bid them farewell and left. Some years later by a strange coincidence he again found himself outside the same monastery at sundown and again sought the hospitality of the monks. They put him up in the same bedroom in which he had spent the night on his previous visit. He found it hard to sleep, wondering if he would hear the sound that had puzzled him so much the last time. And towards midnight, he did indeed hear it- a low ethereal sound that made his hair stand on end. The next morning he pleaded with the monks to tell him what the sound was but they obstinately refused. "YOU ARE NOT A MONK" they said. "YOU ARE NOT A MONK" " I'll have no peace of mind until I know what that sound is !" said the man. " If the only way to find out is to become a monk, I'll become a monk!
Tell me how to go about it." " Give away your car and your fine clothes and your valuables and come back to us," said the abbot, the head of the monastery. The man gave everything he had to the people in a nearby village and returned . The monks gave him a robe. " Now you are one of us", they said. " Good", said the man. "Now tell me what that strange sound was! Who or what is making that sound?" In answer, the abbot pointed to the door at the end of the corridor. " Go through it and you will find the answer," he said.
The man pushed open the door and found himself confronted by another door made of stone. He pushed open the stone door and found another door made of jade. He pushed open the jade door and found himself in front of a silver door. He pushed open the silver door and there in front of him was the source of the sound. He was horrified. It was terrible........ He wanted to turn and run away but fear rooted him to the spot. He was unable to move. What was it that he had seen? What was the source of the mysterious sound?Alas, dear reader, the answer cannot be revealed to you. You are not a monk!!!!!!!!!! Don't ask me also the answer ,as till now I am also not a monk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! & I also do not want to be a monk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
